The detailed study for construction of the tunnel include understanding with respect to the choice of the liner & method of excavation, the challenges posed by the  stratigraphy, the joint patterns, seapage zones, etc. For this Geological Mapping and Pressuremeter & Flat Jack tests form the important tools. • Water supply tunnels

These projects are completed for Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The depth for these tunnels have been about 100 m below the ground level.

 

• Metro

The safe excavation procedures along with the design for tunnel liners using extensive Finite Element Method (FEM) have been recommended.

 

• Railways

The geology of the proposed area for tunnel was analysed by conducting extensive geological mapping and running large number of Pressuremeter tests at the crucial locations.
